    After giving a birth, there are a lot of questions: how to care of the baby, how much and how often to give a food to the newborn, how long baby should sleep, how much the baby can walk. In the world of modern technology and wide access to information, it is difficult to find the necessary recommendations written in understandable language. Mother’s milk for a baby is not only food which contains all necessary amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, but also vitamins, macro and microelements, immunity cells. Breastfeeding is the key to the child’s future development: the development of the digestive, nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. Let’s see what the mom’s nutrition should be:

    Among the huge amount of food you need to choose only fresh, high-quality food. The mother’s diet one should contain all the characteristics of a balanced diet (principles of a healthy plate: vegetables, fruit, cereals and proteins), a sufficient amount of liquid (minimum 0.8-1.2 liters).

    Until the tenth day after giving a birth you can eat: baked apples, bananas; cereals: oatmeal, rice, buckwheat, corn, wheat, barley); lean soup; liquid (green tea, dried fruit liquid, the beverage of dog rose); fats: butter up to 15g per day, unrefined oils (sunflower, corn, olive oils); lean meat.

    From the tenth day, we can  add to the diet: dairy products (cottage cheese): boiled fish, baked fish; eggs; bread with bran; boiled potatoes, baked potatoes; pasta in small quantities of hard varieties; non-hard/ non-specious cheese; stewed, baked and boiled vegetables (carrots, beets, cauliflower or broccoli, onions, pumpkins, zucchini); green and dried spices (dill, parsley, bay leaf);  food during  tea-time and between main meals: dried fruits (dates, dried apricots, prunes), crackers without raisins.

    During the first month of breastfeeding is not recommended: whole cow milk(bought /homemade), meat soup (any kind of meat), from dried fruits — raisins; black tea, coffee, sour cream, raw vegetables and fruits (except for baked apples and a banana), fresh bakery products made from high-grade flour, alcohol.

    1-3 months

    You can add to the diet: the borscht seasoned with tomato juice (pasteurized tomatoes); raw vegetables and fruit for the season; nuts (except pistachios and peanuts); meat (chicken, rabbit, turkey, quail, veal); fruit drinks (from bilberries, lingonberries, currants, pitted cherries); sour cream; home-made jam: from cherry, pitted plum, apple.

    Not recommended: whole cow milk (bought /homemade); raisins; black tea, alcohol.


    3-6 months

    You can add to the diet: porridge (barley, millet); honey; fresh juices (carrots, pumpkins, apples, beets, fresh onions); fresh and dried spices:basil, savory, tarragon, lemon balm, oregano, celery, mint, thyme; whole cow milk (bought /homemade); alcohol.

    6-12 months

    You can add legumes, seafood, garlic.

    Diet from 6-12 months: meat (veal, beef, chicken, rabbit, quail meat); cereals: buckwheat, oatmeal, corn, rice, wheat, millet, barley); beans and legumes; fish (stewed or boiled); seafood; vegetables(stewed, boiled or baked); pasta in small quantities; boiled potatoes, baked potatoes; eggs (chicken eggs, but better – quail eggs); non-hard cheeses; dairy products — cottage cheese — it is better to prepare at home; bread: gray bread with bran, white bread, slightly stale or dried; fruit (according to season); spices (dill, parsley – from baby’s birth; celery, mint, savory, basil, oregano, lemon balm, tarragon, thyme — from 3 months), garlic — from 6 months; nuts, except for peanuts and pistachios, — from 3 months; fresh juices,according to your taste and mood — gently add one by one not earlier than in 3 months after giving a birth; you can make fruit drinks (from blueberries, lingonberries, gooseberries, currants, pitted cherries — from 1 month); you can infuse tea from branches of fruit and berry trees, as well as from herbs (yarrow, chamomile, horsetail, mint, lemon balm, eucalyptus, coltsfoot, elderberry, thyme, calendula — combining no more than 2- 3 herbs or one herb); you can  prepare the beverage of dried fruit or fruit without sugar; green tea (large-leaved, without additional elements), non-strong black tea (such as Humana, Hipp); you should drink fresh or distilled water infused on dried fruit/ mineral waters.

    Not recommended: all canned food; chocolate; all sweets that contains food and flavoring additional elements, essences; instant coffee and tea bags; ice cream; margarine; mayonnaise; intermediate goods like sausages; whole milk up to 6 months; condensed milk; sweet drinks, refined sugar, pasta and potato in big quantities, smoked/salty food, fast-food is also strictly prohibited.
